Bend, Oregon
In Bend you can go skiing in the morning and golfing in the afternoon. Known as "the sunny side of Oregon", the Cascade mountains are a protective ridge keeping out excessive moisture and cloud cover giving Bend only 12 inches of precipitation per year. This compares to 42 inches for Portland, 36 inches for Seattle and 20 inches for San Francisco.
Climate Our average high temperature in January is 40.3 degree - the average low in January is 20.6 degrees. In the summer, the average high in July is 82 degrees and the average low for the same month is 43.8 degrees. Average precipitation is 12 inches and snowfall is 33.8 inches (most of which is on the mountains.)
Geography Bend, county seat of Deschutes County, is located near the center of Oregon at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Bend covers 21 square mile with an altitude of 3,628 feet.
Bend is just 160 miles southeast of Portland, 131 miles southeast of Salem, 128 miles northeast of Eugene, 496 miles northeast of San Francisco, 319 miles west of Boise, 343 miles southeast of Seattle and 398 miles north of Reno. We're in the middle.
